Ivy Malone and Mac MacPherson have been circling the idea of marriage for some time (see the five books in the Ivy Malone Mysteries series), and now they've made the Big Decision. They're getting married!
Except there is the problem of that dead body - and a killer who's willing to bring their plans to a screeching halt.

Good grief! Lorena McCourtney just gets better and better. I admit it. I had my doubts about "my Ivy" teaming up with a husband. Well, my misgivings are now over. Don't tell my husband, but I love Mac. McCourtney alternated some chapters with Mac thoughts and adventures. What a treat to get into his head! And what a relief to find he loves and appreciates Ivy as much as her fans do. He is brave and funny. I loved the "Ivy voice" also. She is so funny. As a woman "of a certain age" I really "get" her. I wish she lived next door!I won't give away the plot, but it was truly original and fast-moving. The characters were well-rounded, especially, Ivy, Mac, and Ellle (whom I'm hoping to get to see more of in future books.)

Something Buried Something Blue The Mac 'n' Ivy Mysteries Book #1 edition by Lorena McCourtney Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I am a fan of Lorena McCourtney! She is an absolutely wonderful writer! Her latest book has a lot of her fun sense of humor that I have come to look forward to in her books. I am looking forward to more books in her Mac 'n Ivy series...or any book from her other series!! Write on!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Ivy Malone Mysteries and discovered that there's going to be a new series including Mac.
Once I started reading "Something Buried, Something Blue" I couldn't put it down. Ivy sure gets herself in a jam and when I think, oh good, she's going to be rescued, it gets worse. When Ivy has the opportunity to get revenge on the person threatening to kill her, she shows her Christian faith and is kind. With her wedding just ahead, I wondered if she was going to make it.
Well, she's done it again. What a great read. Lorena's books are so fun to read. I love the mystery, display and reminder of faith, humor, and just a good story.
It's been a while since we've read the earlier Ivy Malone books and still Lorena manages to keep track of characters and keep them consistent. I read some books by other authors who had actually gotten the names of their "supporting" characters wrong in a single book.
I love her writing style. My husband and I will read this one together, as we have several of her other series.
I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
Lorena, keep up the good work!
Book #1 in a delightful new cozy mystery series featuring my favorite LOL (little old lady) Ivy Malone, and her new fiancé, Mac. Yes, fiance! Who says seniors are exempt from love and romance? These two make a fun and entertaining sleuthing pair, complimenting each other perfectly. Partly told from Mac's perspective and partly from Ivy's, I eagerly romped with them through rural Montana and a puzzling mystery well-populated by an eccentric mix of support characters. Never knew for sure who were the good guys and who were the--well crooks. Another great offering from Lorena McCoutney. Can't wait to read Book #2!
I must confess that both my wife and I love Lorena McCourtney's books and writing style. Every one has good, clean and yet very interesting feel good stories. We both were saddened when it seemed the Ivy series ended, so our excitement was aroused when we saw this new series involving both Ivy and Mac. We were not disappointed. The book was well paced and held our attention. It was cleverly written from first Ivy's point of view (first person narrative) and then from Mac's. It was written with Lorena's tongue firmly planted in her cheek as all her work seems to be. Therefore we could laugh heartily along with being captured be the twists of danger and mystery. We read a lot of cozy mysteries and Lorena McCourtney's are head and shoulders above the rest. We can't wait for the next one in the series.
Really enjoy the Ivy mysteries. Now I get both Ivy and Mac and all the trouble they can get into "together". The books always carry the love of the Lord in them. But Ivy never preaches or in your face. She just has absolute faith that Jesus knows what He is doing. Great books.
What a great book - filled with a wonderful mystery, romance, lovable dog and a grumpy (but sweet) cat. I always enjoy the way Ms. McCourtney creates a whodunit that keeps you guessing, while her characters are relatable and fun. I loved the Ivy series and can't wait for the next Mac & Ivy ( and Koop and BoBandy) book!
